Town of Johnson Creates Task Force to Explore Options for Saving the Julian Scott House
The Johnson Selectboard has voted to establish the Johnson Municipal Task Force on the Future
of the Julian Scott House, a new advisory group charged with investigating options to prevent the
demolition of the historic Julian Scott House.
The Task Force will research the building’s condition, explore preservation and reuse possibilities,
identify funding opportunities, and gather community input. Its work will culminate in a set of
recommendations to the Selectboard later this year.
Individuals with experience or interest in historic preservation, construction, planning, finance,
grant writing, or community engagement are encouraged to apply for membership.
The Julian Scott House is an important part of Johnson’s heritage, and the Selectboard is
committed to ensuring that all feasible alternatives to demolition are thoroughly evaluated.
Applications to serve on the Task Force may be submitted to the Town Administrator at
TOJAdministrator@townofjohnson.com or delivered to the Town Oices by July 1, 2026.
