SELECTMEN S WORKING MEETING
Members present: Eric Osgood, Blaine Delisle, Howard Romero, Brad Reed, Selectmen, Terri O Hear, Gordon Smith, Rosemary Audibert, Clerk.
Eric called meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Board opened bids for insurance coverage, received one bid from Vermont League of Cities and Towns total bid $22,579.00 which includes workers compensation.
Gordie stated that the estimate for the sign on the transfer box from Great Big Graphics for an 18 x 30 is $115.00 to $130.00 to be split by the town, village and fire department. 4 inch letters red on white background. Board stated that the fire department should not pay for the sign. Howard moved to pay ½ of the sign from Great Big Graphics. Brad seconded, so voted.
Brad stated that the Lamoille Ambulance service rates are going from $33,000.00 to $90,000.00 in July 2003. Towns need to make a decision by December 2002 if they what to go with Lamoille Ambulance or start a new ambulance service. Need to have a building, equipment, and staff ready by July 2003. Brad stated that there are several EMT s that live in this area. Johnson is the ideal location to house the service. Need Johnson and Hyde Park to make the ambulance service work. If Hoag doesn t get the contract may be able to hire Hoag s people. Blaine and Howard think that there is enough time to get this done. Howard stated that need to hire a person with management experience to oversee the project from day one. Brad stated that the sub committee is looking into what the best options are. Gordie stated that the fire department needs to be separate, members cannot do both. Also need a different building; if the Village buys the Tatro land there is a possibility of using a building there. College is a good source for staff; some students belong to fire departments in their hometowns.
Terri stated that with the VLCT insurance need to give a three month notice that
would like to cancel insurance. She asked what the price would be in January 2003. Rosemary stated that the workers compensation insurance expire February 1, 2003. Board asked is $22, 579.00 the prorated price or is that the price for the whole year. Duncan to check on this. Tabled until the June 17, 2002 meeting.
Brad moved to approve Armark Catering for JSC on June 20, 2002. Howard seconded, so voted.
Mark Cote gave an estimate of $15,000.00 to $20,000.00 to fix the Scribner Bridge. State is going to replace the roof with a grant. Blaine stated that there is one bean broken and maybe able to fix that when the roof is being replace. Eric stated that some abutment work needs to be done. Duncan is looking into funding sources.
Brad moved to purchase a watch for Gordon Davis, Howard seconded, so voted.
Howard stated that need to do something with the junkyard on Main Street. Blaine stated that Wolcott is doing an ordinance. Now have the state statutes to use as enforcement.
