The Johnson Fire Department Auxiliary was recently
awarded the First Place prize of $500.00 for their "Never
Forget" float which appeared in the annual Vermont
State Firefighter Association Convention parade. The
theme for this year's parade, held in Newport, was pride
in our firefighters and our homeland and featured fire
trucks and apparatus from all over the state as well
as marching bands and flag corps. The "Never Forget"
float depicted the scene from
Ground Zero on 9/11 with a flag at half-mast and three
firefighters standing along side it. Also present were
a doctor, clergy person, police officer and an EMT professional
to represent some of the people that gave so much during
that difficult time. The float also featured the Statue
of Liberty as a reminder to all to remain prideful of
our country.
The JFD Auxiliary is a group of volunteers dedicated
to sup porting the Johnson Fire Department and our community.
